Model development in practice: a comprehensive update to the boundary layer schemes in HARMONIE-AROME cycle 40

چکیده

Abstract. The parameterised description of subgrid-scale processes in the clear and cloudy boundary layer has a strong impact on performance skill any numerical weather prediction (NWP) or climate model is still prime source uncertainty. Yet, improvement this hard because operational models are highly optimised contain numerous compensating errors. Therefore, single aspect often results an overall deterioration as whole. In paper, we will describe comprehensive integral revision three parameterisation schemes High Resolution Local Area Modelling – Aire Limitée Adaptation dynamique Développement InterNational (HIRLAM-ALADIN) Research Mesoscale Operational NWP Europe Applications to Operations at (HARMONIE-AROME) that together parameterise processes: cloud scheme, turbulence shallow cumulus convection scheme. One major motivations for poor representation low clouds current cycle. newly revised parametric descriptions provide improved not only but also precipitation. Both improvements can be related stronger accumulation moisture under atmospheric inversion. included recent update HARMONIE-AROME configuration, its insights underlying physical more general interest based commonly applied frameworks. Moreover, work offers interesting look behind scenes how development requires approach delicate balance between realism pragmatism.

Modelling Glaciers in the HARMONIE-AROME NWP model

HARMONIE-AROME is a convection-permitting non-hydrostatic model that includes the multipurpose SURFEX surface model. It is developed for high resolution (1–3 km) weather forecasting and applied in a number of regions in Europe and the Mediterranean. A version of HARMONIE-AROME is also under development for regional climate modelling. Here we run HARMONIE-AROME for a domain over Greenland that i...

a frame semantic approach to the study of translating cultural scripts in salingers franny and zooey

the frame semantic theory is a nascent approach in the area of translation studies which goes beyond the linguistic barriers and helps us to incorporate cognitive and cultural factors to the study of translation. based on rojos analytical model (2002b), which centered in the frames or knowledge structures activated in the text, the present research explores the various translation problems that...
